Hey guys, gays, and gworls! I’m back at it like a crack addict with the first movie review of the year! During a Monday night, I was in the spur of the moment and went to see ‘Escape Room’, and now I’m going to get in it.
“Six adventurous strangers travel to a mysterious building to experience the escape room — a game where players compete to solve a series of puzzles to win $10,000. What starts out as seemingly innocent fun soon turns into a living nightmare as the four men and two women discover each room is an elaborate trap that’s part of a sadistic game of life or death.”
Being directed by Adam Robitel, director of ‘X-Men’ and ‘Insidious: The Last Key’ the movie gave what it gave, and what it gave was subpar excellence!
The movie did well with introducing the characters and made sure that characters developed all throughout and that the plot was consistent. They had a group of six different individuals that were considered irregularities since they were people who beat the odds and survived impossible situations. All the characters (especially my good sis Zoey) were placed in deadly escape rooms that were like the impossible situations that they survived. Had it not been for their individual physical and/or mental attributes, none of them would have made it past room one.
On the bright side, it seems that based on the movie’s ending that we’ll be getting an ‘Escape Room 2’. The movie too had the perfect setup for a sequel. In my opinion, I don’t think that it will do as good as the first one. Everyone involved in the project must really give 110% and make sure their foot is on our necks the entire sequel because this is what I was expecting from the first one!
Overall, I would have to give this movie a rating of 6.8 out of 10. As I said, the plot was good, and the character development was there… it just lacked giving us the view of it being an escape room along with leaving room open for MANY questions.
Escape Room is in theaters now! Go check it out and let’s discuss in the comment section!
