Hey guys, gays, and gworls, I’m back at it like a crack addict! I realized I haven’t given y’all many anime show recommendations, but there’s this recent show that came out a couple of months ago by the name Dr. Stone.
“When a mysterious light suddenly engulfs Earth, humanity is left petrified, frozen in stone. Thousands of years later, the world is teeming with vegetation, and forests have taken the places of cities that once stood proudly. One of the very first to emerge from their stone prison is Taiju Ooki, who finds that his good friend, a brilliant young scientist named Senku, has been preparing for his awakening. While Taiju wishes to save the girl he loves, Senkuu is determined to figure out the cause behind the strange phenomenon and restore the world to its former glory. But when they free the infamously powerful Tsukasa Shishiou in order to gain an upper hand against the dangers in an unfamiliar world, they realize that their new comrade has other plans. Tsukasa sees their predicament as a chance to start over; free from the corruption and destruction wrought by technology, he will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. With both sides unable to see eye to eye, Senku and his devotion to science will clash with Tsukasa and his primal nature in what will truly be a battle of the ages.”
What drew me into Dr. Stone was the synopsis itself. One thing that I love about this anime is that it uses science. You know, all things actual factual! This show is also wildly hilarious. From the jokes to the facial expressions, they have it all.
Dr. Stone has a disparate take on what is considered good and what is considered evil. In my opinion unlike many anime (or shows in general), Dr. Stone takes out the whole idea of antagonist and protagonist by giving you two different ideals that are both right depending on how you view it. Tsukasa has an idea to make this new world similar to that Jimmy Neutron movie where there were no parents. Senku wants to restore things to how it was because balance I guess haha. Dr. Stone also shows what happens when you pit brains against brawns in a world like theirs.
Honestly, I’m excited to see how this story unfolds. Heck, I guess I must pick up the manga because of how impatient I can be. In my opinion, this show has the potential to go from good to GREAT! I’m going to continue to watch to see if the show decides to answer some of my questions and to see if it overall gets better. I will say that this anime is certainly not everyone’s particular taste, but if science, humor, and newness are, then you should check it out.
Dr. Stone is available to watch exclusively on Crunchyroll! Be sure to comment, subscribe and tell a friend to subscribe too! They won’t regret it.
Gay and Geeky,
